Service Overview

<p>&nbsp;The women groups also involve with family related as well as social development activities such as legal aid support to the distressed women, reduce early marriage, eve teasing and ensure education for working mother&rsquo;s children, adult education and free education material support to the poor students. Beside this CBO&rsquo;s started awareness of fertile couple family planning, antenatal postnatal care to lactating mothers, develop skills on nutritional aspects and arrange free campaign on health and blood donation in the urban area. To obtain these learnings and the poverty reduction experience and familiarity from the UPPR Program supported by UNDP, KNUS has turned in to the NGO organization started its 1st activities on 2007 at Bogura urban areas with having the technical as well as logistics, guidance and grants support from UPPR Program and funded by former DFID, present Foreign Commonwealth &amp; Development Office (FCDO) leading by Ms. Latifa Yasmin Lovely as well as taken over the responsibility as Executive Director (ED).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>According to the project implementation strategies, the project formed group with identifying poor, extreme poor vulnerable women in the urban areas at Bogura Municipality. During this period the project selected cluster and formed CDC (Community Development Committee) in each cluster. Katnarpara Nari Unnayan Sangstha (KNUS) CDC implemented different Livelihood and infrastructural interventions with UPPR Program. At that time Ms. Latifa Yasmin Lovely-ED initiated &amp; established the Katnarpara Nari Unnayan Sangstha (KNUS) 1st signed agreement with the UPPR &amp; started partnership with UNDP&ndash;UPPR (Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction) Project management. In the year of 2007 to 2012 its operated education support program for the poor girls and adolescents. Business Grants support for the extreme poor to implement off farm i.e tailoring, handicrafts, antic, Cloth business, egg business, vegetable business, food processing, rice selling, sweet, curd preparation etc. and on farm i.e Fish culture, Nursery Establishment, homestead gardening, poultry &amp; livestock rearing etc. business for the economic empowerment of the poor. Urban food processing activities to enhanced food production that increased the consumption and nutrition availability of the poor HHs. Established goat and poultry farming through providing capacity development training and provided inputs support such as goat kids, chicken, shed, feed, medicine etc. with a view to entrepreneurship development through vocational training and stipend to youth and adolescent&rsquo;s girls.&nbsp; Beside these KNUS executed Infrastructural development such as Footpath, drain, hygienic toilet, Tube well etc. for establishing hygienic/healthy environment and access safe drinking water for the urban poor in 08 CDCs under Bogra Municipality. More than 6500 people of the urban areas directly &amp;15000 people indirectly benefited through the partnership program under UNDP-UPPR project. KNUS had obtained huge livelihood improvement/poverty reduction experiences including liaison, networking, linkage development through the partnership with UPPR. UNDP- UPPR, those are being utilizing in the previous &amp; current programs/projects.&nbsp;</p>
